Our story

Hi — we’re Kate and Michael.

Together for six years and living in Livermore, California, our home is so ready to welcome the good and perfect gift of a new life.

Our journey hasn’t been the one we first imagined. While hoping to grow our family, Kate was diagnosed with hormone-positive breast cancer. After completing chemotherapy, radiation, and surgeries, she remains on targeted therapy to stay healthy. Carrying a pregnancy could trigger a recurrence, which is a risk we cannot take. While this was an unexpected detour, it led us to the intentional decision to seek a gestational carrier for the embryos we secured before Kate’s treatment started.

What we’re looking for

A few things that matter to us

These are our honest non-negotiables, mostly set by the medical and legal side of the process. We’d gently ask that they fit before reaching out — and everything else, we’d love to figure out together.

Healthy pregnancy history: You have experienced at least one full-term, healthy pregnancy and delivery of your own.
Clinic baselines: As required by our clinic, you are between 21 and 42 years old, have a BMI under 33, and lead a healthy, non-smoking lifestyle with no history of severe postpartum depression.
A strong foundation: You are financially stable (not currently relying on government financial or housing assistance) and have a supportive partner, family member, or friend who will be there for you during this journey.
Location and logistics: You are a US Citizen or Permanent Resident living in a surrogacy-friendly state, and are open to traveling to our California clinic for the embryo transfer (we will cover all travel expenses, of course).
Comfortable with the process: You are open to standard surrogacy procedures, including medical screenings, sharing past delivery records, and routine background and psychological evaluations.
A collaborative spirit: You are open to discussing things like communication styles, birth preferences, and post-birth pumping, and are ready to finalize a clear, fair legal agreement so everyone is fully protected and supported.
Fair compensation: We deeply value the incredible gift you would be giving us. We are fully prepared to provide fair compensation and cover all surrogacy-related expenses, to be outlined clearly in a legal agreement.

An independent journey — no agency. We’ve chosen to do this directly, person to person, rather than through an agency. We’ll work with a fertility clinic, doctors, and a reproductive attorney to keep everything safe and proper — but the relationship between us is just that: us.
